Updated: May 20, 2020
As of 03/16/2020, Better Piggies Rescue will be closed to the public until further notice due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19.
Although there is not currently any proven evidence to support that COVID-19 can be transferred from humans to pigs/livestock, humans are able to transmit influenza to livestock. For the safety of our animals, staff, volunteers, donors, and patrons we feel this is in the best interest of everyone.
All events and future appointments have been cancelled. We are looking to slowly open the sanctuary up for tours beginning the first week of June 2020 depending on public health status and concerns.
We are allowing potential adopters to come to the sanctuary for adoption consultations but on a limited basis. Adoption consultation appointments can be scheduled by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org and groups are limited to two (2) people (including children). We ask you take every precaution to practice social distancing and safe precautionary measures before and during your appointment. If you are feeling symptoms, or have recently been exposed to someone ill or experiencing symptoms, we ask you let us know and cancel your appointment until a later date.
Existing volunteers who have been through an orientation are able to still come and assist at the organization. You can self schedule on our booking site here.
We apologize for the inconvenience and would like to ask everyone to keep themselves updated on our status through our social media pages. We will let everyone know when we are looking to resume scheduling. Your patience in this matter is highly appreciated.
