The Story of Better Piggies

Better Piggies Rescue is a Phoenix-based 501(c)(3) organization created by Danielle Betterman in 2017 after rescuing and adopting 6 of her own pigs. BPR is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, adoption and education of pigs. We currently have over 160 rescue pigs at our sanctuary, as well as 3 rescue cows, a horse and 3 rescue dogs. We work with government organizations, police departments and other rescues/sanctuaries to rescue + rehabilitate as many pigs as possible each year. Pot belly pigs and farm hogs of all ages, shapes and sizes are welcome + supported here! BPR utilizes volunteer help at the sanctuary and on rescues, and we are big on community involvement and education. Pigs are amazing beings that deserve the same love, respect and admiration as any other animals -- and BPR wants to spread that message as far as we can!

Our first establishment is located in Cave Creek, AZ. Currently, Better Piggies Rescue is one of the only pig dedicated sanctuaries in Arizona, that covers from Maricopa County to the northern border of AZ.

We pride ourselves in our ability to safely and effectively rescue pigs throughout the State of Arizona through innovative technology, practices and coalition to other livestock rescues and law enforcement agencies.

"I am fond of pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us.  Pigs treat us as equals."

~ Winston Churchill

Director

Danielle has been around pigs for over 12 years, starting with her first pig Beezers. She worked with different rescues and organizations to foster and rescue pigs in Arizona before starting her own non-profit. Her goal is to get pigs accepted as pets in every city and stop breeder practices.
